Biography

Ava James (Ella Azad) is a 22 year old vocalist based in London. She was inspired to sing at a very young age by her granddad, a successful jazz pianist, whom she grew up learning music from. Her early musical influences include Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye and Billie Holiday.
Having studied at the Brit School for 4 years, Ava has played in numerous venues around London, as well as recording in studios since the age of 15. Since graduating, she has been gaining experience and developing her skills as a songwriter.
Ava has collaborated with several critically up & coming producers to write her debut EP, including Leo Kalyan, Maths Time Joy and Tropics.
The EP was very well received by British tastemakers, with various tracks premiered on Noisey and Clash, and 2 singles played on BBC’s Radio1 and 1Xtra.
Her unique voice captured the attention of new collaborators and she featured on Saux’s single Take It as well as on the forthcoming release by Braxton for MTA Records (Chase & Status’s label).
